What We Do
Our primary focus is in the recruitment of partners (whether equity, salaried/fixed share or partner designates), senior in-house lawyers, teams and mergers. We ensure that equal emphasis is given to both our client searches and individual representation.
Search clients
Identifying and attracting legal talent for senior positions in law firms and companies, often locating practitioners who are not actively seeking new appointments. Our search work involves acting for partnerships and corporates on their strategic recruitment investments.
Private clients
Introducing career-enhancing opportunities for professional progression within the legal arena. Our private client work involves representing the senior “candidate”, often partners or teams in law firms and general counsel who can add real value.
We also undertake associate level assignments occasionally, where suitable candidates may be in short supply.
Experience
We have deliberately remained smaller than many of our competitors and limit the number and type of matters we undertake.
Our focus is on the instructions at hand and on the success of each mandate.

- Placing 5 partners between 2016 and Dec 2018 into a well-established independent city law firm across international/domestic high court litigation/arbitration (3), corporate (1) and real estate (1).
- Representing a Corporate/Capital Markets team and successfully introducing them to a large US law firm (East Coast, NYC) where they joined the firm’s Sao Paulo and London offices.
- Placing eight partners over a three year period into an ambitious and profitable firm in the City of London. Placements have been made within the firm’s Corporate, Litigation, Real Estate and Employment departments.
- Senior placement of a real estate and real estate finance specialist advising private equity, hedge fund, investment fund and corporate investor clients from a White Shoe NYC law firm into another leading US law firm in London.
- Placing a Corporate partner with a “top tier” reputation in the hotels, leisure and advertising industries into a well known city firm (London).
- Placing a CEO and former London managing partner of two leading US law firms (in addition to full time fee-earning) into a dynamic city practice as Head of Restructuring/Insolvency (upper market) and to lead a number of high profile litigation matters.
- Senior level placement into the banking department of a large Global Top 20 US law firm (West Coast, LA).
- Placement of a real estate partner with expertise in a diverse range of sectors including renewable energy, financial services and hotels & leisure into a Top50UK law firm.
- Senior placement from a top 10 UK100 law firm to the largest litigation only US law firm in London (West Coast).
- Working with the founding partners of a start-up law firm in the City of London and placing two partners in 2018 at the firm, a corporate private M&A specialist and a commercial/IP/IT practitioner.
- Placing two Commercial Litigation partners from a UK100 law firm into a “boutique” Litigation law firm in the City of London.
- Representing the head of construction at a national UK law firm and successfully introducing him to a leading city practice where he joined as Head of Construction & Projects.
- Helping a key client with their goal to develop an Immigration business and introduced a well regarded boutique law firm who merged with our client.
- Placed a Corporate partner into a UK80-100 law firm from a UKtop20 practice where he was head of Corporate Commercial in London.
- Placement into the Banking and Project Financing Department of a leading International Top 20 US law firm (East Coast, NYC).
- Partner designate placement into the London Banking Department of a leading Scottish HQ law firm that has not merged or been taken over recently (consistently ranked among Scotland’s Big Four).

He focuses on partner level recruitment where he represents law firms, teams and individuals. In addition, he has advised on a number of merger opportunities.
Ed also places lawyers in-house and occasionally works on partner designate or senior associate positions when clients have found it difficult to attract the right candidates.
Before starting Lincoln Partners, Ed worked for 9 years with a specialist legal headhunting practice that was part of Management Recruiters International in London (MRI Network is a global player with $300million+ turnover and also a wholly owned subsidiary of CDI Corporation, NYSE:CDI). Ed joined MRI Network in September 2000.
Outside legal recruitment, Ed spends as much time as possible with his family; he is married and has a young daughter.
